    AI CS6 problems at exit

    Rodieck Community Member

Lately,  AI CS6 has a problem when I shut it down: I always get the message Adobe Illustrator CS6 has stopped working.  It doesn't really give me a problem, since I've saved my files, but it's a real nuisance.  I've transhed my preferences file but the problem still exists.  Before I reinstall, I was hoping some one could think of something I could try first.

I'm running Windows 7 on a 64-bit PC. (BTW, the Adobe Update for AICS6 that I received this morning didn't solve my problem.)  The problem first surfaced when I was working for weeks on a large file (about 60 MB).  I'd hoped it would go away when I finished that project, but it still happens on all files now.

The most likely source of the problem is permissions. AI will stop if it can't write the preferences files on shutting down. Make sure that you have the proper permissions set on Users/(user)/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Illustrator CSX Settings

I always run AI as Administtrator, so I don't think that's the problem.   I would like to check those settings, though, but I'm having trouble finding them.  I'm looking at

            Users/(me)/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Illustrator CS6 Settings/en_US/x64  -- and then what?

            Thanks.

Right click on the Adobe Illustrator CS6 Settings folder and select Properties. Then click Security tab and look for your current account. Click on the current account name and see the applied permissions to it. There should be a tick beside Full Control which will mean that you have full permissions applied to the Adobe Illustrator CS6 Settings folder. If you dont see the tick beside full control, you will have to add permissions to it by clicking on Edit button. Then choosing your current account click the Full control checkbox under Permissions for your current account. Hit Ok twice to apply the permissions.

                Hi Rodieck,

Could you please try exiting AI by selecting "File->Exit" and clicking "X" on title bar? Are their behavior same? Are you getting "Adobe Illustrator CS6 has stopped working" in both the cases?
