Extra RAM helpful for CS5 Premiere Pro and AE editing in HD?

I'm wondering if adding more RAM to my system will make CS5 Adobe Premiere and/or After Effects run faster while editing HD files and converting them to DVD-ready files.  I'm running an ASUS P6TD Deluxe motherboard with 12GB of RAM, Windows 7 64 bit -- and am just starting to edit my first HD project. I have an NVIDIA Quadro GX 4800 graphics card.  I'm using a Matrox MX02 Mini with Max box for monitoring and a Matrox Premiere setting of 1920 x 1080p 29.97fps. If I double my RAM to 24GB, will that give me improved performance?  Or is it more than my system can make use of?  I'm not having any problems.  Just want to know if investing in about $60 worth of extra RAM will give me any benefit.
