I can't say I've seen that behavior, but then because of image quality problems I abandoned 7.1 altogether and dropped back to 7.0.
The 7.2 release candidate is available. You might want to try that.
It works for me using ACR 7.2 RC.
More specifically: starting by highlighting a group of 8 CR2 files from a Canon 7D in Bridge CS6 64-bit, then right-clicking and choosing Open in Camera Raw, which opens ACR 7.2 RC, if I have the first photo selected as the current photo and click Select All, then adjust the Exposure slider to +5, all the images turn almost white so the exposure value is being changed for all of the selected items without having to go to each one individually.
Nope. It works the same as always for me.
One thing you might not have realised though, is that some settings automatically copy over, and some do not. Off the top of my head, gradients, and other local adjustments only work on the currently selected image, and you must select synchronize to copy the settings to the others, but then it has always been this way AFAIK.
