Without seeing the actual file it´s hard to say for sure, but that really sounds you have some kind of clipping path attached to that image.
Open it to Photoshop and open Paths panel and see if there´s something hiding there.
Also possible there's a blending mode applied to the shadow.
And did you check the layer visibilty in ID? Right-click the image and choose Object Layer Options...
This is a stock PSD file from Ford. It does have 6 clipping paths on the image. Any idea what I can do to get it to show up properly?
I checked the layer visibility and everything seems to be okay there but still not showing the shadows.
Two ways to do this:
Select the image, then Object > Clipping Path > Options.. and change the type to None. You'll probably need to adjust the frame after.
Place the image again, but show the Import Options (check the box, or just hold down the Shift key when you say OK). Uncheck the box (checked by default) to use Photoshop Clipping Path.
