Designed many web site pages in InDesign, and now need to covert all pages over to Photoshop quickly.
Is there a reason for doing this? The graphics created in Photoshop for slicing are a little better for the web (more effects, better save for web functionality etc) but you can actually create a reasonably efficient web site in InDesign - as long as you map all the styles and then export as HTML.

However, to answer your question, yes and no. You can copy the text box from InDesign and paste in Photoshop which will place it as a Vector Smart Object. It will preserve most, if not all of the styling you have applied. Then to edit this, you simply right click the layer and edit in illustrator. If you copy only the words, it will not paste like this, you need to select the text box.

nyctinab Oct 3, 2012 1:48 PM (in response to Rik Ramsay)I need to convert pages because I am handing off to developers who require PSD layered files, with type in photoshop type layer, in area text box, not as a smart object vector. Not a smart object that opens in Illustrator.
I wish Adobe would add to InDesign a similar function as Illustrator's export to PSD layers with the option to Preserve Text Editability.

atypeofmagic Nov 13, 2012 4:24 PM (in response to nyctinab)This (Mac only) InDesign script is not perfect, but will still save you a lot of time:

Move all the various elements to separate layers in InDesign. Make sure you have no other documents open in Photoshop when you run the script. I've found it a huge timesaver, but YMMV.

Silkrooster Nov 13, 2012 9:08 PM (in response to nyctinab)Something to try {I did not try this so may not work, assuming you have the apps}
Export your Indesign document to a pdf, import that into illustrator, then try A)save as psd and B)save as ai then see if either file can display true text in photoshop.
The issues I see with the above, is A)the pdf may not contain an embedded editable ai file and B)the psd or ai file may contain outline text (Not live) C)You may not have illustrator
Just a thought...
