As part of the Kuler website being down for maintenance the database of online themes is also affected. This is why you are receiving the "No internet connection detected." message in the extension panels when attempting to browse online themes. The website/database will be up again in the coming weeks. Sorry for the inconvienence.
Then the message on the website should probably be changed as it reads:
You can still create color themes using the
Kuler panel in Photoshop CS4, CS5 or CS6.
It's been a week and still NOT working. : (
I can only imagine the size of the database. Must be a monster.
FYI: Kuler is down for Illustrator CS6
We have completed maintenance on the Kuler website, https://kuler.adobe.com/ and database. You should no longer recieve a message about the "No internet connection detected." in the Kuler extension in the desktop products.
I've been having this issue with Illustrator CS5 for the longest and till this day. I still can't acess Kuler from the Kuler extension in Illustrator. Can you help me solve this dilemna?
I would like to have this fix as well for Illustrator CS5
The kuler extension is STILL not working for me in Photoshop CS4 and it is now June 2013 !! ... still complains about internet connection not detected, but I do have an internet connection and it is up.
Please fix this, thanks!!

The Kuler team recently rebuilt the backend of the Kuler service for security, maintenance, and peformance reasons. (the old back-end was showing signs of failure).
Anyway, it seems the new backend is not working with old Kuler APIs (CS3, CS4, and the air app and mac widget). Adobe typically provides support for up to two versions back. At the moment, that's CS5 or newer. So, I'm afraid it's not likely that you can expect a fix for CS4.
At this point, your team can use the web application to browse, create, and search themes. They can also download themes as ASE files (on the website) to import into InDesign CS4.
I'm very dissappointed that Adobe has opted not to fix this issue in lower versions of your software. I spent I great deal of money on the suite (CS4) and Kuler is (was) an awesome extension that I use (used) often. The work around provided is time consuming and defeats the purpose of having the extension built into the product. I hope Adobe fixes this issue because I just can not afford to purchase a higher version or go into the Creative Cloud.
i'm using CS6 and i'm experiencing the same issue. i've checked plugins prefs, etc to make sure everything is set to allow photoshop to connect. it all looks good, and yet i'm getting the "no internet connection" error. according to Dave, this shouldn't be an issue with CS5 & newer.
is there a workaround (going to the kuler website is not what i would consider to be a workaround) or should i just forget about using kuler with photoshop?
Do you have Illustrator CS6 or CS5 installed on your system and is kuler working in Illustrator ?
You can also check that your system admininstrator has not disabled Adobe services. Please refer http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/disable-cs-live-internet-access.html
I am also encountering this issue in all CC apps after a recent install three days ago. I have searched through all the forums, but none of the offered solutions helped. Do you have any suggestions?
I too am extremely disappointed in this bit of planned obselesence by Adobe. And I can't afford to buy into it. Been using your fine products since I worked at Adobe over 20 years ago. Come on Adobe, do the right thing for you loyal customers. I love Kuler; I need Kuler; gimme back Kuler.
