Wes Plate Oct 3, 2012 8:41 AM (in response to NeyWarren Int'l Pics)Are the marker buttons in the Marker Type panel greyed out or can you click them to create new markers? What is the format of the media you're logging?

NeyWarren Int'l Pics Nov 4, 2012 1:20 AM (in response to Wes Plate)HI Wes, I only just saw this, as I had given up, and didn't even know there had been a reply. Ok, thank you, but there are no buttons, I was just watching the video2 brain intro and saw there are supposed to be buttons, but it is just a flat list no interactivity. I am logging in from gopro cameras, h.264. I also can't do in or out points in the rough cut part. I live in Tanzania and the internet is expensive and super slow, so I hope to avoid redownloading. I am downloading an update and it will take 8 hours. for only 38 od mbs. Thanks ahead of time for you help. I will check back in a prudent manner this time! asante sana bwana.

michaelgoshey Nov 4, 2012 3:39 PM (in response to NeyWarren Int'l Pics)Hi,
Currently Adobe does not support metadata for GoPro media. If acceptable, you can transcode your GoPro at ingest using Prelude (even to h264) then you can log it and the buttons for adding markers will work. There is something in the Gopro video headers that is preventing our core players from recognizing it as standard h264. We are looking into this currently.
Hope this helps,
Michael

NeyWarren Int'l Pics Nov 8, 2012 8:10 AM (in response to michaelgoshey)Dear Michael,
thanks a lot for that information. I will go and try it straight away. That will be a big relief as I am shooting a feature film and wanted to go the pro route and integrate and delegate etc. using the creative cloud. I don't know if you know about this, the Story says I have to update, and when it tries, it says it fails, and I have to check with the author of the... something or other. This was my last hurdle to FULL INTERGRATION OF WORKFLOW. sounds so nice! awesome, and thanks for the tips!

5. Re: can't add markers or in/out points in prelude- please help!
COFilms Feb 13, 2013 8:01 AM (in response to michaelgoshey)Hi Wes,
Just having the same trouble ingesting footage from Canon 5DMK2 CF card. Is it also a format that is not supported? It ingests fine without transcoding and playback is as expected. However, no options anywhere for in and out markers once ingested.
Or have I just gone loopy and missed something?
Seems a big omission to me? Also, why do you have to transcode for partial ingesting of clips? Isn't one of the pluses to Premiere CS6 that you can work natively with many codecs such as h.264? Why do we have to transcode first?
Until these issues are addressed, sadly I cannot consider Prelude part of our workflow! Great Shame.
Appreciate your thoughts and any advice.
Kind Regards,
Alex

Wes Plate Feb 13, 2013 8:30 AM (in response to COFilms)Hi Alex, I just sent you an email as I'd like to do a screen sharing session to see about your first question. It should just work.
Transcoding is required for partial ingest because Adobe Media Encoder is needed to write the new file that is a subset of your original. You are right that Premiere Pro is very good at playing media natively, you can inget your material in its entirety without transcoding and Prelude and Premiere Pro will play them back just fine.

7. Re: can't add markers or in/out points in prelude- please help!
Wes Plate Feb 14, 2013 12:51 PM (in response to COFilms)Following up: I spoke with Alex and the reason he wasn't able to use the In and Out commands was a marker hadn't yet been added. Once a marker has been added and is selected the I key will change/set the In of the marker and the O key will change/set the Out of the marker.
Markers can be added by clicking the buttons in the Marker Type panel, using the corresponding keyboard shortcut or by choosing Marker>Add>Subclip (or Comment, etc.)

ecarter99 Sep 29, 2013 6:33 PM (in response to michaelgoshey)Has this been solved, the GoPro not being able to be worked with unless transcoded? Most of my footage is GoPro and I am not going to transcode hours of footage to use Prelude.

Yes – support for GoPro within the XMP Metadata format is available as of Prelude 2.1 which is going to be released mid-October as part of the Creative Cloud subscription.

Will this update ever become available for CS6 users? Not CC users? I recently just purchased CS6 and i chose to do so because i am not as avid of a movie maker as many others and CS6 was a better priced option for me to go; however, almost all the footage i use is gopro footage!

11. Re: can't add markers or in/out points in prelude- please help!
michaelgoshey Sep 15, 2014 12:48 PM (in response to anmairs)The support for metadata/logging in GoPro footage is a function of our core XMP libraries which are compiled into our products. Unfortunately it is not possible to retrofit cs6 products with newer components. Upgrading to CC is the only path to add GoPro logging capabilities.
As I mentioned in my last post, you can convert to another format that CS6 supports logging for. Prelude provides the transcoding capabilities as part of the Ingest Dialog. You could also use Adobe Media Encoder directly instead.
Thanks,
Michael
