Sorry, maybe didn't explain correctly, but want my code to be something like this:
But that second line is not working
I'm not sure, but try adding "sym", like this:
The "e" is where you're passing in the event to enable for the object, so not sure if this will work.
Thanks for you help, but that unfortunatly didn't work..
I've been copying things every each way but still no luck.
As a hacky workaround, you could just set a global variable and set it on click. Then, when you handle the click handler in the other button, add an if statement that checks the variable, reacts accordingly (does hover action, or not).
Thanks I would.
But I pretty much just started learning this stuff, so I really dont know how to do any of this good stuff.
Hopefully I'll get there...
Dont' worry, my eggy friend- you shall get there!
Below is your file with a few revisions to the "button_cat_hover" symbol, "click", "mouseout" and "mouseover" events. I added a global var to the Stage.compositionReady event- those events check that global var and react accordingly.
Let me know if this is what you're looking for.
It took me a while but I finally think I got it. Before I thought you made a mistake with adding that "isCatBtnEnabled" variable and then turning it off when the button was clicked, and for a long time I didn't understand why the other ones weren't working.. Im sorry this is probably obvious but I didn't realize each symbol needed its own variable.
I think It is finally working now! Thanks so much for your help. I Have learned a lot from this.
If you want to take a look here is the file
Nice job, but I've got a question. When I "click" on any of the top 4 buttons, the appropriate image shows and stays in place until the bottom button is "clicked". However, when I "mouseover" any of those buttons, no image shows. Should the images be showing when I "mouseover" and hiding when I "mouseout" (only because I saw that in your code)? Thanks.
No problem eggertr, glad you figured it out! And yes indeed, I just fixed the cat button, in hopes that you would implement a new variable for the other buttons- I should have been more clear on that.
If my solution worked, feel free to mark it as "correct"!
Actually the the mouseover state for the buttons is the hover state that plays and plays backwards on mouseout. There was a extra click state on the buttons that made the symbol play backwards, but should only be on mouseout.
If you want to take a look at the final file. Here it is:
eggertr, now I understand... thanks!
