The first part of your question is a resounding "yes." There are several threads on here and the beta forum about adding or embeding a YouTube video. However as far as I know, no one has tackled controling video through EA. I suppose it would be possible using something like videojs.

You can do what you are looking for. The big challenge will be managing the media. If you use an MP4 video, it will not work in Firefox. Sadly we are back to the days of having to encode multiple video flavors for the various platforms and broswers. (I miss FLV already.)
By the way, a note to Adobe, it appears that the "Search" above only searches forum topic titles (?) So although that thread mentions VIDEO and YOUTUBE quite a bit, a search does not turn up that thread at all because the title is:
