if you are not using solid works or need 10 bit color correctioon then a quadro is a complete waste, and most of them will be slower than the 570
Thank you so much for your reply!
I just wondered if there are some technology that the GeForce series can't make use of.
Over all i'm wondering why Premiere isen't using more of my system resources, and are choking on RED 5K files, and even causing it to crash at times.
Sounds more like a CPU/memory limitation, but without complete details we cannot help much
I'm trying to run the PPMB - i'll post the results ASAP, thanks!
I agree with Bill. Please share:
- hardware list including: motherboard, cpu, power supply, case, drives (including how drives and arrays are configured for Premiere), RAM, GPU (GTX 570)
- project description: duration, # layers of RED and/or other media, filters and effects used (Adobe and 3rd party)
Regarding my very limited experimentation with RED (overclocked 6-core cpu, 24GB RAM, GTX 480, multiple drives) editing a single track worked fine without rendering, however 4 layers was unusable until I did a "render full timeline" command from the menu. It seemed that Adobe did not seem to think that a render was required, but it was indeed.
Regarding will a Quadro help, probably not. A large RAM card might, but I cannot personally comment on this from experience. The 4GB GTX 680 card is available now; has anyone around here tried one for RED 5k?
