Selecting a style source will have no impact unless you choose to Sync the document using the flyout menu of the Book Panel.
If it's not outputting then I suggest selecting the first half of the book documents and exporting to pdf - then select the other half and output that.
If you get an error in one half of document selections, then you know the error is in one of those files.
You can then continue one selecting half of those and eventually narrow down the documents to find the problem file.
Thanks, I'll try that.
I didn't think that the Style Source would be the problem since I'd gone on Adobe's help about it but just wanted to ask. Do you happen to know how to get that turned off?
Also, in an earlier discussion I saw where someone was getting this message, InDesign was on a server and being shared. That person was instructed to delete preferences. Do you think I should try that too?
Your suggestion of breaking up the export to pdf into sections of pages was excellent. I don't know why I didn't think of it...maybe because I was in panic mode.
For anyone else who experiences this problem, I exported 50-page sections to pdf with no problem. I now have 7 hi-res pdfs, but that's no problem. The printer should have no problem dealing with it. No error messages came up.
The only thing I can think of is that InDesign couldn't export that many documents (148) in the book palette to hi-res pdf, and it has no error message available to explain the cause—either outside ID's ability to process or out of memory, even though I have 16G of RAM.
Thanks again for your help!
