Flash Player not installing, "trimChars not defined"?

I've been trying to install an update to the Flash player but I keep getting the same error: "Unable to get value of the property 'trimChars': object is null or undefined"

Windows 7 Enterprise, SP1

I've tried downloading the installation file using IE 9.0, Firefox, and Google Chrome and all 3 give the same error after I start the install. Any advice?

(AtciveX for Internet Explorer and Plug-in for Firefox.)

Close all browsers and double-click the downloaded file.
