    Variable Instances

      In Flash, I can create a variable to hold an instance of a movieClip. In Edge, it seems like it doesn't remember a variable instance.

      For example:

      var ryu = sym.getSymbol("RYU");

      I should be able to call on ryu later in the code to do somehting with it, but it doesn't always seem to work. This is in the scope of a single function, so that's not an issue.

      Also, what's the difference between these two:

      Is the first one global and the second one more specific? Are these calls native to Edge only or are they a JavaScript derivative?
