Exactly what I did. So good luck to you!
I got the file from the support, I just named the old aex to .old and copied the new one into the folder and now it works. Really fast support
I also got the older file from support - they responded within the hour. Thanks Cycore! All is well now.
We've gotten a new and fixed version of this effect into the next version of After Effects, too, as indicated in the notable bug fixes at the end of this page:
Had the same issue... tried all of the above but then when the "purple" issue was mentioned I recalled a while ago Premiere had a "purple" render issue..and the solution was to apply a "crop" filter to your footage... so I tried to apply a Square Mask to my AE footage and VIOLA! Filter works all is well.
Hope this help another beady-eyed midnight working artist like myself somehere...
There is another solution, If you are having CS5.
Just copy and past the effect from the CS5 to the CS6 folder. Worked for me.
We'll be fixing this in a bug-fix update for After Effects CS6 soon.
Adobe After Effects CS6 (11.0.3) has been released. This update fixes many crashes and other bugs, including this issue with the CC Simple Wire Removal effect.
Also, this fix is in After Effects CC (12.0).
