Tried Live Chat but it was no help. The only suggestion was that an AMD XP2800+ is not a Pentium 4!
Does anyone know how to get this to a technical person. I realise this is free software but it must be paid for by the booksellers who won't get my business until I can actually install and use this software.
I see message after message from people who don't get the proper help from
Chat. You have to be persistent! They are PAID to help you with Digital
Editions, just like they are paid to help you with any other Adobe
product. If your Chat agent doesn't seem to want to help you with DE, ask
them to transfer the conversation to a supervisor, etc. Don't give up!!!

I tried again today with CHat and got a more helpful agent. After having me check various things including the event log for errors he decided that my processor is not supported. He then suggested I try an older version of ADE and provided a link when pressed. The older version appears to work, at least I have managed to download a couple of samples form Adobe's site. Of course until I actually buy a book with DRM I won't know for sure.
By the way does anyone know ho I tell which version of ADE I now have?
Can you paste the link for the older version of Adobe Digital. Even i am having issue with the latest version, when i try to open it nothing comes.
Here is the link I was given:
I have now tested it by downloading one of the books from adobe's sample ebook library. It opened in ADE fine but I haven't tried transfering to my ereader yet.
Thanks Roger. The old version is working for me.
May the E-Reader Gods smile on you, Roger! I've been having a very frustrating three weeks trying to get ADE 2.0 to work on my older PC, the same one that the previous edition of ADE worked perfectly on. Naturally, when I tried installing 2.0, it deleted the old version and I had no idea how to get it back.
The link you posted was a lifesaver! Not only did the old version install, but it installed with all my saved e-pub files intact.
Thanks so much. You battled Adobe so we didn't have to.
Thank you so much, Roger! I had hell trying to get 2.0 to even bring up the setup program, but your link worked like magic! It even displays both my pdf and epub files! Now I can set up my brand new e-reader without a problem.
[By the way, for any Adobe mods/admins that may read this, I have Vista Home Ed. with SP1 installed and I'm using Avira Anti-Virus.]
