Adobe Reader 10 Crashes Intermittantly on Citrix XenApp 6.5

      Hello All

We have a problem with Adobe Reader 10.1.3 and 10.1.4 crashing completely intermittantly.

When we install onto the Citrix server direct, we can run the application first time without error at all. However, when we then close and try to re-open we get a number of possibilities that follow:

      1) the application on second run will display Adobe Reader cannot load Core DLL. This CAN display constantly after this.

      2) It will display the above second time round, then run third time, then repeat itself (Work, wont work, Work, Wont work, work). This cycle can be anything from once, twice or four times.

The other error we get is Adobe has stopped responding, however, this error when it occurs happens constantly.

If we run a repair on the app, it will work perfect first time again, then second time onwards will resort to any of the above.

We have tried to monitor Registry keys, files/folders to see what, if any, are changed when the application is closed to see if that was the problem. We have also looked at NTFS permissions on the folder to see if that was an area but we cannot seem to resolve it.

We have also tried to install v11 of reader and although this seems to be more stable, we still get random occurences of the above.

Are there any files/registry keys etc that we should be looking at or any other area of configuration that anyone can recommend.

      Regards

      Darren

Adobe has done a lot of rework in Acrobat/Reader 11 to be more Citrix friendly.

Highly recommend everyone move to 11 if possible.  Having worked with Enterprise customers, they are seeing huge improvements.

If you do see random crashes, please do take care in isolation on Citrix especially if you are attempting to get a crash log.

1.) Isolate the user who crashed (which farm and which server)

2.) Generate the crash log at the server (if you dont have this ability, ask the system admin).

3.) Capture resource consumption via Task Manager screen shots so we can take a look.

          Thanks
