I want to crop a video in cs6. Do you have to have Murcury Playback Engine running to do that? The only tutorials show the crop tool as an effect but it doesn't work on my machine.
I have several layers of acvhd 1080p running smooth on a aspire 5750 - i5 with 8 gigs of ram laptop and am happy with the results there than not having access to the crop feature. (im not using 3d or multiple effects)
I might grab a nivada gtx 570 of a mate if I have to but just needed to know if when murcury playback is enabled, the crop effect would be accessible!
Hardware acceleration isn't 'required' to do anything.
What's not working about the Crop effect?
The crop effect availability has nothing to do with the Mercury Playback engine.
I just tried it with the Engine running software only. No hardware acceleration, and it worked just fine.
When you say it doesn't work, what do you mean? Are you able to drag and drop it on to the clip? Are you able to change the top, left, right and bottom parameters?
Try it with only one track on a new sequence and report back.
It looks like this when I use crop:
