InDesign ask me to install "Spelling Panel" and "Find and Change Panel"

    Lars Lund

Everytime I start InDesign, I get pop up messages asking me to install "Spelling Panel" and next "Find and Change Panel".

I tried doing this using Extension Manager, but still I get the messages when starting InDesign.

      What do I do?

Hi! I am also having the same issue

I get these errors. When I ignore them and click through Indesign CRASHES as soon as I open a file and try any sort of edits.

          screen 2.jpg

I do not know how to fix these!  I tried installing Adobe Extension Manager yesterday and that made it worse.  I uninstalled Indesign and Extension Manager and then reinstalled Indesign and the same issue persists.

Please assist as I have lost 2 days of productivity and I have deadlines.

PS. have also attached the error message that comes up after crash, the one that gets sent to apple.

In future, please post crash reports on pastebin.com and put a link here. They make the forum impossible to navigate when included in your post. Your first step should be to install the 8.0.1 patch. If that doesn't work, uninstall, run the clean tool (CS Cleaner Tool for installation problems | CCM, CS6, CS5.5, CS5, CS4, CS3) and reinstall.

Lars, we don't have much info from you, but the adice would probably be the same.

I'm having the same errors. InDesign CS6 also crashes when trying to use the text tool. This is very frustrating have searched far and wide... nothing has come up.

Just saw another report where the user suggested that renaming the Adobe folders in his user library solved the problem. I'm not sure you need to replace the entire folders, but see Replace Your Preferences for the folder locations and directions for resetting the prefs, which may be enough.

This advice from Peter Spier helped me :-)  :

uninstall, run the clean tool ( CS Cleaner Tool for installation problems | CCM, CS6, CS5.5, CS5, CS4, CS3 ) and reinstall.

                  Thanks !

It would certainly be worth trying the less drastic prefs replacement first. I'm a little surprised it worked, but if it does, it's fast.

i had tried those and had no success.

I ended up completely uninstalling Indesign and running the cleaner and then reinstalling. Now it works again.

Seriously though, not impressed. Lost several days of productivity.

Had same problem following new install of InDesign CS6, and this worked for me:

                          Went to "Manage Extensions"

Went down list & found "RuninStylesPanel" had warning triangle by it.

Manually turned it off and exited Extensions Manager

Rebooted InDesign which opened with no error messages on way in

Quit out and went back in again

Went to "Manage Extensions" again, located "RuninStylesPanel" again and manually turned on

Exited Extensions Manager and Rebooted InDesign

Fired up with problem fixed and no error messages or missing bits

My guess is it's some form of permissions error during installation
