Hit \ and it will zoom to fit your timeline.
If you have no clips in the timeline, it will zoom to fit to a default level, which is maybe what you mean by 'restore'. (?)
Otherwise, you can just zoom and scroll it back to whatever level is comfortable to you. You can also use the - and = buttons to zoom in/out to your preferred level without worrying about panning.
...just to be clear, I'm talking about using the UI-ZoomBar in the timeline in CS6. The 'Mountain-zoom' slider (like what you see in the project panel) no longer exists in the Timeline.
Well I am in CS5.
What disappeard is the zoom in and out slider plus the scroll bar at the bottom of the timeline panel of the sequence.
I am useless without them.
Try resetting your workspace.
I did but it didn't restore them. :-(
I don't know what happened but they are back!!
If I figured out what I did I'll let you know.
