End Chapter action and Play All

    Soshman Community Member

      Hello,

I am playing with doing a DVD myself ( i usually send it out to and editor to do it )

I am testing the DVD and i need to tell the videos to go back to the menu when done playing instead of going to the next

      video.

The is a self help DVD with a lot of exercises...thus a lot of chapters.

      On Menu page 1

I have a play all button    4 videos (video action menus ) and another link to dvd page 2...which has 8 short videos with buttons....

a play all button and a main menu button

On page one i want the videos to come back to the main menu when doen if the client plays the one video itself

and play all of them if the hit the play all button.

On Page two with the eight videos...i already have them all set up to play at exactly the point i want them to play ( i had to do a bit of adjusting to get them perfect

but am happy now )  Problem is if i hit button 6 it play video 6-7-8...and i want to to come back to the page two menu.

I also want the playall button to play them all.

I have searched you tube and forums and even asked an editor and am getting no where.

I dont know what i am asking or searching for :-)

If someone could point me in some directions i would really appreciate it!

      Thanks so much,

What you are doing is not as simple as it seems, but not that difficult...

Remove any chapter end actions you may have set. Also remove any overrides if you set any.

For EACH chapter you want to play by itself, create a CHAPTER playlist and add just the one chapter into it. Set the end action of each chapter playlist to "last menu."

On the menus that play chapters, link a chapter button to a chapter playlist. Each chapter will play and return.

Each separate timeline (the 4 timelines that will have one video each) will have an end action of "return to last menu."

Create a playlist (not a chapter playlist this time), and put the 4 timelines in it in the order you want them to play for the "play all." Set the end action of the playlist to "last menu." Link the playlist to the play all button.

            Hey Stan!

            Thanks for your quick response.

            So i have 4 timelines

But the 4th timeline is a combination of chapters (videos ) all in one exported timeline from Premiere Pro cs5

It has one 10 minute video and 8-- 4 minute videos.

Will ii have to go back and render each seperately?

Or is there a way to get it done as is?

            Thanks again!

PS and it doesnt sound like i will have to do much of anything with the 8 videos for the playall list except address it to the first video?

Ok Stan i re-read your post several times and watched a Youtube video on chapter playlists

and i can see you have answered the questions fully in your first reply.

Somertimes when doing new things it doesnt seem like such a short answer is so complete...LOL

                Thanks again!
