I'm wondering which hardware component speeds up rendering the most for After Effects in CS5 and above for final output rendering to disk? Is it SSD, CPU, Memory? Or does GPU really play a role in regular rendering to disk these days?
I'm not doing any of the new features like raytracing, but just straight importing in a file sequence, and then just outputting that back out right away as another file format like h.264 or even uncompressed .mov.
Currently using a dual E5-2680 Xeon with 64GB of ram, and 256GBSSD along with a 2TB HD for long term storage...GPU right now is AMD 5870 HD. Thanks!
Do a search on this forum and the web in general. This has been discussed to death just like when to use MP rendering or not. We had 2 similar threads just last week. AE is still a CPU centric app and for "regular rendering" all the fancy GPU stuff doesn't matter one way or the other, especially with legacy CoDecs liek QT Animation or whatever...
