Safe Mode disables a lot of drivers and services, like networking. That would seem to indicate that something is running on your system that interferes somehow.
I'm just not sure how you'd go about tracking that down.
It looks like I fixed the issue!
I updated the BIOS (not something I would have thought could cause the problem), and thus far the issue looks fixed.
What did the new BIOS provide/fix?
It is known compatibility issues between motherboard and specially SSD sata III drives (connected via 6gb port on the motherboard). That is why is freezing system. Most of times updating BIOS fixing the issue. Glad that was helpfull for you becomethesignal.

Freezing was the symptom. I was wondering what was the problem.
