I tried pasting the sequences 10 - 15 times inside of a text frame, then saved the file. InDesign CS6 did not crash. I'm on Windows 7.
I had the problem in macosx 10.7.5 and 10.8.2
it happens also with
with cs5 no problem

Are there any third party plugins installed like Math. If so, use extension manager to remove the plugin and then launch InDesign to test the issue.
Which font you are using to type this text sequence? Are you using the Glyphs panel to enter these special characters.
no optional plugins installed
I tried with imac 27" with 10.8.2 and macbookpro with 10.8.2
it is not related to the font used
you can write the text letter by letter or paste from text edit or import from external txt file
also the sequnce a.¶a1A give the problem but not a.#a1A or a.$a1A
if you don't write the . or § or £ or ¶ the application works
if you insert the character in the position application will close with no messages
Are you using an English-language versions of ID, or Italian? (Or something else?)
I have a tlp master collection with all adobe patches installed
if I create a new file in indesign cs5 with the text and then I open that file in cs6
the problem is not present and I can write the text more times in the file with no problem
but if the file is created in cs6 application will close
please let me know if someone else on a mac has the same issue
I'll try it at home tonight - but for some unknown reason I have a hunch that this issue will be limited to the Italian UI.
thank you Joel
let me know about your test
the same problem if you use any punctuation instead .
a,§a1A or a!§a1A or a?§a1A
it seems a strange grep sequence
I've tested this on 10.8.2 with all these sequences on a English version of ID CS6. the crash is not reproducible. It must be limited to Italian language version only.
thank you shnath
let me know if someone using any not english version can reproduce this issue
Yeah, I suspect that this is an encoding problem in the Italian localization of ID. Because you say it is only caused by punctuation followed by a section symbol, I suspect that it is an endianness problem.
(Yes, I posted only because I wanted to use the word "endianness" )
you are right it is certainly an endianness problem
I've installed a trial version on a clean system in french and spanish
no problem found
it seems only the italian version is affected
have you any idea of wich files I can try to modify to solve the problem?
