You mention "control panel", so I assume you are on Windows. What version?
What files do you have in C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash ?
Can you post the contents of the FlashInstall.log file from that same folder?

Windows 7 Ultimate. The only files on "C" are the system download. It is a boot only drive.
You need close the Mozilla Firefox to continue with the installation. Did you do that.
Also, please let me know your operating system and browser.

Then where is your Windows folder? Open Windows Explorer and type %WINDIR% into the address bar.
Windows 7 Ultimate, Google Chrome. Yes, I did close Firefox.
You don't need to install Flash Player in Google Chrome. Flash Player is integrated with Google Chrome.
Using Chrome, go to the following page and let us know what it says about the Flash Player installation status: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html
I think you were trying to install Flash Player on Mozilla Firefox. Ideally, the installation should go through after you close Firefox. If nothing happens, press Control, Alt, Delete keys together. Then select Task Manager. Ensure that Firefox is not listed in the Application tab. Go to the Process tab. If it displays firefox.exe, select it and click End Task.
