Dreamwaever MX v6 freezes on startup!

    BenekLisefski
I've just installed a copy of Dreamweaver MX version 6 on a new Dell laptop running winXP. Every time I try to start the application, it pops up the Dreamweaver MX splash box, but then that just sits there forever, and it never opens the program. I have to CTRL-ALT-DEL and end it. I've tried starting it many times, under many circumstances (including in safe mode) and it fails every time. I had previously installed this same software on my desktop pc and have been running it for years with no problems. The problem only occurs on the laptop. both computers run XP and have similar software installed.
I've tried re-installing Dreamweaver MX multiple times as well, but still having the same problem. Please help!

Which version? Is it 6.0 or 6.1? There were many anomalies in 6.0....

The first thing to do is to update version 6.0 to version 6.1 - you can get
the updater from the MM site.

              Updated to 6.1. Problem persists.

Sorry for the double post, but I'm moving internationally in a few days and I'm going to have to work on my laptop in transit so I really need to get Dreamweaver working right away.

As of right now I have the 6.1 upgrade installed and it still will not launch.

                Any ideas?

P.S. Bummer that Adobe will not provide phone support for this. They said they only support the newest version of the software. I think that's horrible support, but that's another issue ;)

It's quite common in the industry, though.

Anyhow, the only thing I can suggest is that you download the trial of DW8
and try that on your laptop. If it runs, then I strongly encourage you to
upgrade. Moving from 6x to 8 is definitely a good move, especially since
you can get the upgrade price for this release.

If DW8 doesn't run either, then this strongly suggests some conflict in your
                  laptop setup....
