Hey cve, are did you rename the .html file associated with the .an? The two need to remain together under the name they were originally saved with.
Also are you trying to open from the recent files or by double-clicking on the An file?
Since I created the project the file names weren't changed. I even tried to rename the .html and change the value in the HTMLFileName propertie of the .an file in the text editor to see if it made any difference, but nothing changed. Also, like I said, this error is occuring with several projects, even if one of them could fit in the "renamed" condition, I'm sure there are plenty of others that weren't renamed and have the same error happening.
I tried opening the projects both ways, and the same message appears nevertheless.
Hey again, have you tried opening just the .html file (not the .an file) in Animate? EA reads the data from the JS so give this a whirl.
Thank you again Sarah, it worked! Opening the .html loaded everything correctly, and after I saved it the .an file came back to life.
Your situation is 100% similar to mine. With a difference, that even after opening a .html file and saving it, .an file still doesn't run the project because of same "associated html" error
this thread seems to be out of date
i'll open another one
Opening the .html does load part of the project, but none of its settings stored in the .an file. Everything in "Publish Settings" is lost, which is very annoying. I can see that my settings are being saved properly in the .an file, but they are not being loaded. This is in the newst Edge Animate 220.127.116.11.24837 on Windows 7 x64 SP1 with all the latest updates.
Have somebody found a solution for this?
I have the same problem with a little added twist.
The project is located on Creative Cloud.
.an file opens form one computer and gives this error message while being opened from another.
This question is being asked by the community for a while with no solution.
Could somebody from Adobe read this and post the solution?
