Mylenium Nov 1, 2012 1:25 AM (in response to msuner)We cannot know. you are not offering any system info nor other specific details. Based on that, we can only point you to the generic resources:

2. Re: How can I reinstall CS 4?
msuner Nov 1, 2012 10:08 PM (in response to Mylenium)Hello,
Sorry, didn't mean to be so cryptic. I'm running Windows XP Pro Version 2002, SP 3. I've been having a load of problems with this computer some of which I think might have to do with a faulty motherboard (Asus P4P800 SE). It keeps wanting to overclock when I never gave it permission. The computer is more that 5 yrs old and I knew the drives were clogged with unnecessary stuff so I had it wiped. I didn't realize just how wiped it would get. Last night after posting I realized that Windows Installer might have been compromised. Turns out it was out of date. After upgrading I was able to get through the system profile check but ran into another problem. My copy of CS 4 is an upgrade and it is searching for earlier versions on my system. I will probably have to reload CS 2 and hope that this works.
Thanks for responding. I think if I'm going to get this to work at all it will be a long time trying. I also think I'm in the market for a new computer.

Update:
It seems that my copy of CS 2 is also an upgrade and I need Photoshop 5 or later. Photoshop 6 is the earliest version I've had on this computer. That has been so long ago I don't know where the software is anymore.

msuner Nov 1, 2012 11:16 PM (in response to pwillener)Greetings,
I'm not sure how this works. The reply was already marked as correct. I didn't know that I could change anything. I'm in the process of looking for a copy of Photoshop 6.0 for Windows at the moment. All I can find online are Mac versions.
I would say that I still need help... Thanks...

Jeff A Wright Nov 3, 2012 1:47 PM (in response to msuner)Well you can locate the trial and install files for Photoshop CS6 at http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=photoshop. I am unsure where you will locate a copy of Photoshop 6.0 however.

msuner Dec 9, 2012 8:55 PM (in response to Jeff A Wright)Greetings Jeff,
Thank you, getting a copy of CS 6 is something I had been planning to do for a while. A lot of time has elapsed and I was having such a good time with CS 4 there didn’t seem to be any urgency. There are several issues at present. One is that I would rather get a new computer before I get a new program. The computer in question was actually cobbled together in 2004. I thought that if I could patch everything together I could buy some time before I took the leap to purchase a new app. Also there was this nagging fear that since I’ve waited so long by the time I got around to getting CS 6 Version 7 or even 8 would be on the horizon… just my luck… I may have been waiting for the next version the whole time.
There are still some remnants of PS 6.0 on the computer, just not the executable file. That’s the reason I’m still looking for 6.0. I found a copy for Windows on Amazon for $795.00. I just don’t want to go there. For that money I might as well get CS 6.
$795 will get me the new computer I’m looking for.
So I think I’m making progress, however slow, but I think you are right. The ultimate solution would be to get a stand-alone copy of CS 6.
Thank you for your help,
msuner
Greetings,
I have since found my old copy of PS 6 and I have managed to load everything onto my new computer running Windows 8. So I'm back to using CS 4 but as a trial version only. During the registration process it will only look for CS 3 versions. I purchased and loaded the present Ugrade based on copy of CS 2 already on my computer but now the pull-down menu won't see anything earlier than CS 3. What to do???
