x_defect Nov 5, 2012 7:34 AM (in response to Sudarshan Thiagarajan)Yes I've checked that - the colors are already set to the default, I've tried changing some as well, but they're still showing as black.
Is there a software update or something that's supposed to fix this? I see other forum posts that describe the same problem, but not after they simply change their Code View Options.. I can't even get that far.

Nancy O. Nov 6, 2012 3:48 PM (in response to x_defect)I wonder if there is a conflict with your old preferences.
Did you clean off CS5 before installing CS6?

7. Re: Syntax coloring in code view not working in CS6
Sudarshan Thiagarajan Nov 6, 2012 7:39 PM (in response to x_defect)It seems to be the only thing in the Code View Options menu that I cannot turn on/off, but it's not grayed out or turning up any error messages or anything...
So your 'Syntax Coloring' under Code view options is still greyed out?
Well, you can try trashing your DW cache: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/494811
See if that works.

x_defect Nov 7, 2012 2:54 PM (in response to Sudarshan Thiagarajan)I didn't have a previous version of Creative Suite before this, so nothing to clean off. It's a work PC that just got set up with CS6 for the first time - I wasn't able to find that cache file (the instructions are for CS5 and earlier), but since this started happening straight out of the box, I'm not sure the cache would be the problem?
And no, the "Syntax Coloring" option is not greyed out - it's actually black, so looks like it SHOULD be selectable, but I click it and nothing happens, and it remains unchecked. That's the confusing thing.. no obvious hurdles to toggling that option...

Can you still try trashing it? We'll see if that helps.

x_defect Nov 28, 2012 11:42 AM (in response to Sudarshan Thiagarajan)In troubleshooting a similar problem I was having with MS Office programs not displaying colors, I found the solution - my display settings were set to High Contrast.
(Start > Control Panel > Accessibility Options > Display tab > uncheck Use High Contrast)
Phew! Thanks for your help
