Moving this to the Premiere Elements forum, since there aren't many PRE users in the PSE forum.
You can try making sure you have the latest version of Quicktime from Apple. But it still may not go.
Technically, version 10 doesn't support MP4s and video from smartphones.
Version 11, however, does work with them very well. So if you plan to edit a lot of iPhone video, you probably should consider upgrading.

I believe that John T. has linked to at least one thread, that mentions the iPhone's Variable FPS recording, that really messes up things with Premiere (any version/flavor), and about the only "fix" is to Open the Variable FPS footage Clip in Apple's QT, then doing a Save, getting a fixed FPS. Not sure if one needs QT Pro, or if the regular QT Player can do this.
