hello.

when i try to download the flashplayer for internet explorer,or firefox.i get these links:

http://aihdownload.adobe.com/bin/live/install_flashplayer11x32ax_gtbd_chrd_dn_aih.exe

http://fphdownload.adobe.com/bin/live/install_flashplayer11x32_gtbd_chrd_dn_aih.exe

those files are the wrong size(976/977kb.it should be about 4MBs),& will not install.

i think those are malware/virus files.

look what it says in their description:

version:3.3.3.0(it should be:11.4.402.287)

company:Solid State Networks(it should be:Adobe Systems Incorporated)

Internal Name/Original File Name:host.exe

i had even reported this to:https://bugbase.adobe.com ,but i never got a reply.

what is this mess???

these seem like the wright files:

http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/pdc/11.4.402.287/install_flash_player_ax.exe

http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/pdc/11.4.402.287/install_flash_player.exe

but they are way too big.(both are 9+ MBs.)

which means, they are bundled with mcafee,or something from google?

WHERE/HOW CAN I DOWNLOAD JUST THE FLASH PLAYER WITHOUT THE EXTRA SOFTWARE?

my os:win. X.P.

Download the latest Flash Player installers from http://helpx.adobe.com/content/help/en/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.ht...

Both installers are about 15MB in size; no bundled software.

1.)i DEMAND AN OFFICIAL RESPONSE FROM ADOBE ABOUT THIS MALWARE.

if i don't get it,i will post on all the tech websites,& shame adobe.

2.)@ Pat Willener.

thank you for that "mvp response."

does anyone actually read the question before responding!?

you just gave me a page that "basically" has the links i had posted in my first post above.that link/page has been rehashed by everybody about a million times.

3.)Pat,explain to me something...

it looks like there are new versions (11.5.502.110) out today at 15+ MBs.where as versions 11.4.402.287 were 9+MBs.versions 11.2.202.228 were about 4MBs.

how do you explain the bloat to over 3 times their size in about 6 months?

either this is the worst coding ever,or it's bundled with something!?

This isn't malware, but instead these two installer files are the online versions of the Flash Player installers (please note, that your second link has a typo and should have been aihdownload.adobe.com.)  The acronym "aih" is short for Adobe Installation Helper.  This utility will download the actual installer package from one of our global CDN sites.  You can verify the authenticity of these files by going to the file property dialog on Windows, selecting the "Digital Signatures" tab, then verifying that Adobe Systems Incorporated certificate is displayed.

As for the size increase, with 11.5 we are now including the Adobe Access Module as part of the Flash Player install.  In past versions these were downloaded on demand based on the content being viewed.  If you'd like to learn more about this, please see this help doc.  The size increase with 11.2 was due to our change to make our installer a "universal" install that included both the 32 and 64 bit versions of the player.

Thanks,

Chris

hello Chris.

thank you for that official reply, but let us clarify a few things:

1.)no,there was no mistake!

when i clicked on the download link,i got:fphdownload.adobe.com,& not aihdownload.adobe.com.

i'm not sure what to tell you.i got that link from my browser's history.

different versions, different links,or maybe it was one of the billion adobe glitches/bugs.

anyway, now that i think about it,it's irrelevant!(since the direct links change every once in a while.)

2a.)nowhere is it clearly specified that those 976/977kb files are:initialization/online versions of the Flash Player installers.

2b.)the older 3.3.3.0 versions "DID NOT HAVE THE DIGITAL ADOBE SIGNATURES."

again,"i don't know what to tell you."

also, they would get to 50-57%,& stop installing.

i had seen this a million times on different computers,& operating systems.

you can see why those people/me would think,"something is strange about that!"

2c.)the new 976/975kb (3.3.4.0) versions do have the adobe's digital signatures,but still show:Solid State Networks,& host.exe in their descriptions.

funny how they had been versions 3.3.3.0 for 6 months(maybe more),but the day after i had posted this.they are versions 3.3.4.0.

what an interesting "coincidence!?"

skipping ahead a little...

3.)yes,the "early" 11.2 versions did have the 32,& 64 bit versions.(i can not speak for the later 11.2 versions,or 11.3s.)

if they were combined into 1 "universal" version.that would explain why they went from about 4MBs to 9+MBs.

however,if you were to go here:http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ ,& try to download the plugin version.you would see:Your system: Windows 32-bit , English, Firefox.

whether it's ff,or ie you get the "32 bit install_flashplayer11x32_BLAH_BLAH.exe versions."

while adobe's website detects your settings, this is just more versions,& more confusion!

4.Chris,must i really point this out!?

how about if you/someone permanently pins a thread with the name:"Flash Player Installer/Uninstaller Direct Download Links" on top of others here:

http://forums.adobe.com/community/flashplayer/installing_flashplayer

or here:

http://forums.adobe.com/community/flashplayer/installing_flashplayer?view=discussions&start=0&numRes...

it should look something like this:

Flash Player Uninstallers VERSIONS 10,& LOWER:

http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player_32bit.exe

http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player_64bit.exe

Flash Player Uninstallers VERSIONS 10,& HIGHER:

http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/support/uninstall_flash_player.exe

Flash Player Installers:

Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer):

http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/support/install_flash_player_ax.exe

Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers):

http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/support/install_flash_player.exe

Other Devices:

BLAH,BLAH BLAH...

Older FULL Versions:

(LIKE HERE,BUT NOT DEBUGGERS)

EXAMPLE:http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html

the same links are needed here:http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ ,but i'm not going to hold my breath.

people had been complaining about unnecessary software bundling there, default yes check,or moving the checkbox.

so,why would direct links be there.that would make the adobe's website easy,& convenient to use.we wouldn't want that.now would we!?

OR

would you Chris/Pat/a million other helpers prefer to post this link gazillion times in every thread!?

http://helpx.adobe.com/content/help/en/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.ht...

5.)Chris,siiiggghhhh...how i wish you hadn't told me about that DRM GARBAGE!

let me get this straight:

IF THE DRM FILE(S) IS/ARE MISSING,EMPTY,OR CORRUPTED.THEN,NOTHING WILL WORK/PLAY.ESPECIALLY,IF YOU ARE TRYING TO WATCH A MOVIE,OR PLAY A GAME OFFLINE.(YOU NEED INTERNET CONNECTION TO AUTHENTICATE,& GET VOUCHERS IN ORDER TO PLAY GAMES/WATCH VIDEO.)

NO CONTENT CREATED THROUGH ADOBE'S CHANNELS NEEDS DRM!

SO,THIS MUST BE THE WORK OF NOGOODLE/YOUTUBE.THAT WAY,NO ONE CAN WATCH YOUTUBE VIDEOS OFFLINE.(FLV/MP4)

AND

NVIDIA IS TRYING TO DESTROY 3D ENVIRONMENT(relatively speaking) GAMES,& MINI GAMES DONE IN FLASH.(SWF.)

THIS WAY PEOPLE WILL BE FORCED TO BUY NVIDIA'S OVERPRICED VIDEO CARDS.

ADOBE,WHO THE HELL GAVE YOU PERMISSION TO STICK DRM INTO FLASH???

ANY OFFICIAL STATEMENTS?NO!REALLY!?WHY AM I NOT SURPRISED!?

ADOBE CONGRATULATIONS.YOU HAD JUST DESTROYED FLASH!!!

GIVE YOURSELVES A ROUND OF APPLAUSE.CLAP,CLAP,CLAP...

note to self,"NEVER USE ANY FLASH VERSIONS ABOVE 11.4."

IF NO VERSIONS BELOW 11.5 ARE AVAILABLE.

NEVER,EVER,EVER,EVER USE FLASH AGAIN!!!!!

TIME TO BOYCOTT ADOBE!!!

not that any of you care.

Surge,

The message I get from my Anti Virus/Firewall when Flash is trying to update :

FLASHPLAYERUPDATESERVICE.EXE cannot confirm the authenticity of fpdownload.macromedia.com as a trusted vendor.

I too am having a similar problem and have been trying to solve this problem for the past week.  I have gone through searches on Adobe, been directed to link after link only to find myself directed back to where I first started.  I have uninstalled, used Adobe Customer Response Tool to try to pinpoint the problem but no matter what I have done the problem goes on.   Also get another message that tells me 'Action List cannot be found'.

I have also had exactly the same problem with the Java Updates.

hello Sergovia.

yes,it's very confusing!

for example:if you go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

you will see:Adobe Flash Player 11.5.502.110 (15.60 MB) for firefox,& 15 MB for internet explorer, but you will get those 976/975kb initialization files from what appears as:

company:Solid State Networks.

JUST IGNORE THEM!!!

here's what you need to do:

1.)temporary disable your antivirus,& firewall.(if you don't.they will give you false positives,& interfere with a new install.)

2.)download,& run this uninstaller to make sure you got rid of everything:

http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/support/uninstall_flash_player.exe

if you don't do this.you might have nothing but problems.

3a.)RESTART YOUR COMPUTER.(if you don't.those changes will not take effect.)

3b.)again,make sure that your antivirus,& firewall are temporary disabled.

4.)download the "full" offline versions of flash:

for Internet Explorer:

http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/support/install_flash_player_ax.exe

for Other Browsers:

http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/support/install_flash_player.exe

PERSONALLY,I WOULD NOT INSTALL 11.5 BECAUSE OF DRM!!!

i think that's why you are getting that,"Action List cannot be found" error, but i'm too lazy to check.

5a.)install the "full" offline versions of flash ONE AT A TIME.(i recommend version 11.3.no DRM.)

5b.)RESTART YOUR COMPUTER AFTER EACH VARIATION FOR CHANGES TO TAKE EFFECT.(again, make sure that your antivirus,& firewall are temporary disabled.)

6a.)if you choose 11.3.then,stick with it,& DESTROY THE AUTOUPDATE!!!

6b.)go to your control panel,& click on the flash icon.

adjust the options however you like.

6c.)go to C:\WINDOWS\system32,& find a file called Flash.cpl(i think that's the name.i can't exactly remember.)

there will be a similarly named file next to it,but with a different extension.

do not delete them.just get them off your hard drive onto a usb drive for storage.

6d.)go to C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash.

then, cut and paste all the files onto the same usb drive.

EXCEPT FOR:Flash11g.ocx,FlashUtil11g_ActiveX.dll,& NPSWF32_11_2_202_228.dll

THAT'S ALL YOU NEED TO MAKE YOUR FLASH WORK!!!

DISCLAIMER:VERSION 11.5 MIGHT NEED ADDITIONAL FILES FOR DRM.

6e.)go to C:\WINDOWS\Tasks,& find that stupid autoupdate that runs every hour.(literally.)

DELETE IT.

6f.)finally...i can't remember the exact name.so,you would have to look for it a little.

click on the start button, run, type in:msconfig,ok,services(tab) ,& look for something like flash/adobe autoupdate.

BE VERY CAREFUL HERE.

when you find it.go back to run,& type in:regedit, edit(menu) ,find.

then, type the name you found in msconfig,& click the "find next" button.(make sure MSCONFIG IS CLOSED.)

DELETE IT.

push F3 button on your keyboard.(i think that entry repeats twice.)

DELETE IT AS WELL.

6g.)close regedit.

reopen regedit, click on my computer at the very top of it.(so you can start the search at the top instead of the last location.)

search for that name from msconfig just like the first time.

IF NOTHING SHOWS UP.YOU ARE GOOD.

just to be sure.go back into msconfig,& look for flash/adobe autoupdate.(i think.)

if it's not there.YOU ARE DONE.

i'm sorry that i can't remember all of the details.i should had wrote this down instead of just destroying it.

DON'T WORRY.MY FLASH WORKS PERFECTLY IN BOTH INTERNET EXPLORER,& FIRE FOX!!!
