Can't install Flash Player 11.5

Clicking the Install button on what seems like the appropriate page gets a yellow box with the words "Preparing installation, please wait" and a barber-pole image. After a few seconds, this box disappears, then nothing more happens. The Installation Problems | Flash Player | Windows page, which Mylenium likes to refer people to, appears to be broken. Clicking the direct download links on this page just gets another copy of the same page with the message "Error on page" in the IE status bar. System is Windows XP Pro, IE 8, Java runtime 7.9 (just updated). What do I do next?

I just gave this a try and couldn't reproduce the problem.  On the download page, I received the popup save/open bar as expected on IE.  I also had no problems downloading from the following links:

http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/support/install_flash_player_ax.exe

http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/support/install_flash_player.exe

Could you try clearing your browser cache, then restarting your browser to see if that resolves the problem?

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris

Thanks for your response. This problem solved itself. I uninstalled the existing Flash Player, and then tried, again without success, to install the current Flash Player. The next time I visited a web page that needed Flash Player, I was invited to install it. I accepted the invitation, Flash Player installed itself without problems, and all now seems to be well.

Please close this incident.
