- Gone into Quicktime Preferences to Enable Legacy codecs
- Also downloaded the free ProRes reader for Quicktime and
- Shut down you machine -- i.e. turned it OFF -- and started it up again?

You need to tell us exactly what actualyl your think is missing. As Dave already said, legacy CoDecs must be enabled in the QT system control panel. anything beyond that requires more details on your part.
