Hi,
My client has an eCommerce site selling books, ebooks and records at treefree.colourrich.co.uk.
Some of the ebooks are free, but there is an issue when one of these is added to the cart, and the checkout process completed.
Please try the following:
1) On treefree.colourrich.co.uk/ebooks add the free ebook to the cart
2) Checkout (using the view cart link in the header) and follow the steps
3) After completing the final setp of entering your details and clicking "Finish", an error appears saying ERROR: Total owing is $0. If you are using a Gift Voucher to pay for this order you will need to choose Gift Voucher as your payment method [ERROR: 3].
As Paypal is the only payment method at the moment, could this be causing the problem? If so, which option should I allow alongside this?
The second issue is if a downloadable book (free or paid) is added to the cart PLUS a physical book which requires a postage cost. With both items in the cart, the shipping dropdown doesn't appear. This could be due to no shipping option being specified for downloadable products.
Any ideas on making the shipping options appear if a physical product is involved at all in the checkout?
Richard

Hi Richard.
This is an easy one. You removed to many option fields.
The gift voucher or free radio options are needed in ecommerce.
If the value is zero then the gift voucher option is auto selected if there and the system looks for these when the total amount is zero.
If an item is free you do not need to go through to the payment gateway and so why these are needed in the form and look for by the system.

Hi Liam,
Thanks for your prompt reply. I added the "Gift voucher" field back in as suggested and tested the process out again. I now get the following error instead: ERROR: You've chosen gift voucher as the method of payment but no gift voucher is associated with this order. Please go back and enter in a gift voucher code or choose a different method of payment [ERROR: 4]. Please go back and correct this.
Do you know why this is?
As the item is free, do you advise keeping the same download process in place - going through the checkout?
Richard

If the gift voucher amount > order total, then you need to use gift voucher payment option. If it's smaller you need to use a payment option other than GV to pay for the remaining amount.
