Which operating system are you using? Is the file association for ACSM files set to open in Adobe Digital Editions? Do you have Adobe Digital Editions currently installed?
Jeff, thanks for your concern. I think I have Windows 7, and I feel confident that I have Digital Edition installed, maybe many times now as I have tried many things to get books from our library.
Let me toss in a couple of ideas. First off, have you configured Win 7 to
allow downloads through its firewall?
Next, some libraries do not have their end configured so that ADE will be
started when the ebook is downloaded. You could contact the library's
technical support function and discuss this with them if you haven't
So, what to do.... You can right-click on the file name and use the 'Open
With' function of Win 7. You should see ADE as one of the choices. If
so, then if you click on ADE, Win 7 will assign ADE to open any file with
that file extension, and that should solve the problem going forward.
Hope this helps!
