very cool idea..... think that it may be very difficult to do with edge as a true slider... you may be able to do it at hard points within the animation, but from what I can see I think you would have to preset all the keyframes to that point... the issue as far aas I see it is that the edge animation sets animation start and stop point, and relies on their libraries to get you from one items state to the next.... it does not have all those steps precalculated, which means it does not appear to know what the state of an item is in the middle of those steps...
you may be able to do this by setting a keypoint every second or less....
also I have seen a few things like this done with html5 canvas code, but not sure how hard it would be to handle that.

After reading this post I was able to actually make a slider with the code provided. Just a couple of edits are needed to customize to your own timeline.
