how to remove background marks from projection screen

Hi I have recently digitised hours of historical cine film footage by filming off a perl projection screen. There is a slight grain on the screen which shows through on the footage in HD and Im trying to find a way to correct it. It should be easy for software to detect because its static across all of the frames. I have a few frames at the end that show just the screen. Is there a way to "subtract" it? I have tried different subtract/lighten/darken/difference blend modes but it does not seem to make things any better. All the noise removal software I can find seems to be aimed at photos and still images. What should I use to clean old cine film video?
