Here's a little update...
Since I hadn't heard from anyone on this discussion thread (Adobe rep or otherwise) I tried to follow up with Adobe via their customer service number. The first time I attempted to do this I opted to have a customer service representative call me back instead of holding. They not only greatly exceeded the amount of time they said they would call me back in, but then put me on hold again when they called me back again. The call was then somehow disconnected so about an hour of waiting time elapsed and I didn’t even get to talk to a real person.
Tried again the next day. Was not given the option to have a call back. Waited about 20 minutes more than the stated hold time. Call disconnected. I have a professional life so I can’t just keep waiting around for these guys.
Tried one final time the day after. Opted to have a call back. Estimated wait time for this call was 30-40 minutes. It took them 1 hour and 30 minutes to call back, then guess what, the machine put me on hold again… for over 55 minutes minutes. I have a life with other obligations besides waiting for Adobe reps, so I had to go.
I have a sense of humor, so I can laugh at the absolute ridiculousness of all of this, but people have a right to know about this absolutely terrible quality of customer service.
Silly question, but... have you tried reinstalling PPro?
I did, but unfortunately it didn't solve the problem...
Finally got someone on the phone and he was great (Ashish). All I needed to do was to clean my Media Cache Database (located under Preferences --> Media) and I was good to go. He was great, but I'm still unimpressed with the system of customer service I observed.
At least I'm operational again
Well I'm on the exact same system: CS5.5 / OS 10.7.5 on a Macbook Pro and tried cleaning the media cache with high hopes, but unfortunately great disappointment.
Any updates on your end [NicDavis88]? Did that solve the issue for good? Or did it come back?
EDIT: I had been reading a few other posts about possible problems with inadequate external harddrives, namely LaCie drives [which I am using a brand new one].
I've used them for years. Though they are definitely not my preferred drive, I've never had problems with the ones I own.
So, I'm not sure if this issue is a first... any thoughts [?]
Yes, it resolved the issue and I have not had any similar problems since then. Sorry I can't be of more help.
tried switching drives and,...
success!!!! ... Well, at least for 20 minutes :..[
Glad yours is fixed Nic
