Mark, are you downloading the pages via ftp from your server or downloading the page directly from the internet?
When I download a page (with includes) from the server via ftp, the include line is preserved. If I download that page as either a "save as.html" or from the view source, the include statement is the actual server content and no longer the include statement. This is my experience with earlier versions of DW as well.
I use DW8 on a Mac and PC.
dw preferences-->Invisible Items
It's at the bottom of the list in most versions

Thanks Harlene, good guess though. I had that problem too downloading from the internet in an older version. No, this problem is actually happening for a couple of our newer designers. I'm not in the same state, so actually putting my eyes on the problem is kinda hard but they are using FTP for there transfering. I have DW7 and they just installed DW8. I was thinking it might be a default in the new version throwing things off and sure enough it was. Totally forgot about the invisible items check box. Oops! Thanks again.
Thanks Alan, good catch. As I read your reply it came back to me that that WAS in option in Dreamweaver. Funny how you forget about things you don't use. Cheers.
It never occurred to me that it could be a preference choice. I sure am glad Alan was reading the forum. :-)
