Question in regards to going from Acrobat X to XI

    urdaddi Community Member

I know that when I upgraded from Acrobat 9 to Acrobat X, I was told that it was best to first un-install Acrobat 9 before installing Acrobat X.

Is this the case in going from X to XI as well?

Yes. It is not recommended to use multiple versions of Acrobat on the same OS. I'm afraid but this is to avoid the possible conflicts while accessing common files used by an older version and a newer version.

It is best to only have one, but starting with AAX, Acrobat was supposedly designed to try to make it and prior versions co-exist. The problem that remains is what one is called by Windows (probably in MAC too) to work with a PDF. Sometimes that has been an issue in Windows if you let part of AA remained active in the background (excluding AcroTray that is needed to run the printer). Also, Windows, defaults to a specific program (can be changed by right clicking and going to open with) that may not be the one you want.
