    Timeline animation

I've been given a task to do a timeline animation on the period of the Roaring Twenties in america. I am new to after effects and my depth of knowledge is limited. I have done tutorials and projects in order to help with this but I am currently stuck with a project I would like to do

I wish to get this effect: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_XVw7XN_zg

If anyone can help me that would be great ! thankyou

The right-hand strip on the YouTube page you pointed to has several related videos, some of which point to Videohive and other stock footage/ template sites. Beyond that you can easily create such stuff using simple elongated 3D solids and applying a linear wipe effect, then create a few simple keyframes to "draw" them on. It's really something one could do in quite short time. It's more a matter of having a plan on how to arrange some interesting structures in the first place and having a basic understanding of AE's 3D space.
