1. Re: Extended vacation with no internet - will Creative Cloud apps continue to work?
Ken G. Rice Dec 3, 2012 3:30 PM (in response to jelliott2k)You need to be able to connect to the internet once every 30 days with a 7 day grace period for a licensing check.
This is covered in more detail in the Creative Cloud FAQ here http://www.adobe.com/products/creativecloud/faq.html under the Purchasing and getting started section:
Is activation required to use a membership product?
Yes. Activation will take place once every 30 days for a subscription license check. If you are not online for 30 days, your software will inform you to connect to the Internet.
If we cannot activate the product, we will warn you when you launch the application. Note that blocking access to the activation server will prevent the product from launching.

2. Re: Extended vacation with no internet - will Creative Cloud apps continue to work?
jelliott2k Dec 3, 2012 4:49 PM (in response to Ken G. Rice)Ken, thanks very much for the help.
I think I understand the monthly requirement to connect to the internet.
Having said that, since I anticipate more than a month absence from the internet, can I prepay or make some arrangement with Adobe to keep the applications running while I am traveling? Or, am I just out of luck, and will have to live without the Adobe tools (even though I have paid for them through the automatic charge to my credit card).
I know they will start up when I get back. It is just during the trip that is the issue.
Thanks again.

Ken G. Rice Dec 3, 2012 5:00 PM (in response to jelliott2k)There is not a way to get around this requirement. We have heard this feedback from other customers. I am not sure if there are plans to address this shortcoming, but even if so they will not come soon enough to help you.

Glyph41 Dec 15, 2012 7:49 PM (in response to Ken G. Rice)I'd like to echo what has been said, sometimes I work for extended periods in countries that do not support creative cloud and have difficult access to internet. I would gladly prepay several months to guarantee operation of adobe software while abroad. This is the single hinderance to me subscribing to creative cloud.

ProDesignTools Oct 24, 2013 8:44 AM (in response to Glyph41)Note that since Adobe's new CC version came out in June, now an Internet connection is only needed once every 99 days for annual memberships:
"For annual members, you can use the apps for up to 99 days in offline mode. Month-to-month members can use the software for up to 30 days in offline mode"
Another interesting approach (suggested by Kendall Plant elsewhere) is to install the software on a second machine:
"An alternative solution for this is to install one or more applications on a secondary computer with regular network connectivity, say, a personal laptop. Since the Creative Cloud license allows for use on two devices, you could complete the monthly license check via the applications on your secondary computer. Doing so would validate your whole memberhsip, and all devices/applications linked to it."
Another solution is to buy a year (or more) of Creative Cloud in advance using a pre-paid 12-month membership card... Then no online checks would ever occur or even be necessary.

TDRonline Oct 24, 2013 8:56 AM (in response to jelliott2k)I've found that if you use the fonts via the CC... Once the internet is cut you may not use those fonts as they become out od sync, so be forwarned.
