You can check the HELP section of ADE to see what features are included in
The forum is just users. Some Adobe employees do cruise it, but there's no
direct link between the forum and Adobe. You can go to Adobe itself and
post suggestions for additional features....
>Search function for finding books on book shelves
No, there is no search functionality from the Library view.
>Search function for finding text in books
Inside a book, yes, inside all of your books, no.
> Search function for finding text in notes
No. (although you can fake this by doing a grep on the annotations directory)
> Unlimited number of characters in notes
No, limited by design
> Moving bookshelves around in library
>Allow cut and paste between text and notes
Yes - permissions allowing. but only from the document to the notes
How does one request or suggest a feature for a future upgrade? I followed a path of links in under Adobe Customer Care that looked as though they might lead to the right place, but they led me back here, exactly where I started!
I have the newest upgrade, but as a librarian and a generally organized literate person, not having the ability to sort my bookshelves by the bookshelf names is driving me up the wall! And I'd give my eye teeth to be able to sort authors' names by the surname, then the forenames, then the book titles within each surname/forename. It is also essential to sort book titles by the first significant word, ignoring initial articles. Until Adobe catches on to the way literate people think about authors' names and about titles, has anyone hacked a work-around for these problems?
If most of you books are DRM-free, then I suggest the use of the free Calibre (http://calibre-ebook.com/); though as a librarian you probably already know about it.
I am not sure it will do all that you want, but it is vastly superior to ADE in almost every way, and has an active community and is responsive to change.
