1. Re: Site on Samsung tab/phone vs iPad / iPhone
officeBrah Dec 6, 2012 7:08 PM (in response to M. Henriksen)Hey M. Henriksen,
How exactly does the site not look "fine" on ipad and iphones? Keep in mind that you can set up device specific templates for your site as mentioned here: http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-1874.
I believe the device class for an iPad is 'tablet' & the device class for the iPhone is 'phone'.
This also appears to be a useful Firefox add-on which will allow you to switch user agents to test what the site will look like on a tablet or phone device: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/impersonate-browsers-user-agent-switcher-firefox/
You may want to also provide us with a URL to the site in question so we can look into this with more detail.

M. Henriksen Dec 7, 2012 3:59 AM (in response to officeBrah)Thank you for replying! On screens, on Samsung tablets and Samsung phones the site looks fine. On iPad and iPhones the button for sitesearch moves down onto the menu on iPad, and it kind of does the same on iPhones. This is still a trialsite, but is supposed to go live monday. For now, the url is: http://laa0.businesscatalyst.com

Brad Lawryk Dec 7, 2012 6:29 PM (in response to M. Henriksen)You might want to have a look at Adobe Edge Inspect. It's very cool however you do have to have access to the actual device I believe.

Liam Dilley Dec 7, 2012 6:59 PM (in response to M. Henriksen)Safari on IOS and how it renders form buttons is your issue as it super renders the edges curved and these will take up more space then standard without CSS tweaks to get to get around it.
Look at these forums for example on your ipad. You will not the search on the right side grey bar drops down.

M. Henriksen Dec 8, 2012 3:51 AM (in response to Brad Lawryk)I've downloaded Adobe Edge Inspect, but since I don't have either iPhone nor iPad, it doesn't help in this case.

M. Henriksen Dec 8, 2012 4:03 AM (in response to Liam Dilley)Ok - thank you. This might be an explanation to why. And then I can understand iPhone, but I still can't quite understand why it happens on iPad, because there should be more than enough space. But I have actually realized that if I make the box smaller, it helps. But then it creates a gap between the field and the box on other devices, like on my Samsung Tablet and my Samsung Android phone. You mentioned "forums for example on your iPad." First of all - I don't have ipad or iphone, I have Samsung Galaxy SII phone, and Samsung Galaxy Tab2 10.1 tablet. And - like I said, there are no problems on either of these. And I can't see that you wrote any forums.

7. Re: Site on Samsung tab/phone vs iPad / iPhone
Liam Dilley Dec 8, 2012 12:46 PM (in response to M. Henriksen)The container of your form element could have a fixed width. What happens on iphone will happen to ipad because it is not to do with the screen size, it is to do with how the browser renders forms. Style the input field differently, force widths or modify the container and you wont have issues.

8. Re: Site on Samsung tab/phone vs iPad / iPhone
M. Henriksen Dec 8, 2012 6:32 PM (in response to Liam Dilley)I think I might be too newbee or stupid, but I still can't figure out how I can style a ipad different from the Samsung tablet, or the iphone different from htc phones, or Samsung phones or other Android phones. Because if I change the input field so it fits on for example an iPad, it doesn't look good on the Samsung tablet, and the same with the phones. And it's a bit difficult to change css since I don't have any device to test it on. But thank you for replying!

Liam Dilley Dec 8, 2012 6:40 PM (in response to M. Henriksen)You dont, You fix up the issue in general.
There are things like making an input button to a html button, fixing up the html validation, css overflow etc.
I think you missed the point about Adobe Edge. Same sort of concept as these: http://www.webdesignerdepot.com/2011/10/8-popular-online-apps-to-test-the-mobile-version-o f-your-site/ Tools to test things you dont have.
