Jim Simon Dec 7, 2012 10:43 AM (in response to lasvideo)Very cool (right up to the Mac at the end, that's where you lost me).

lasvideo Dec 7, 2012 10:44 AM (in response to Jim Simon)Ha ha. Oh come on. You sound like a vampire cringing at the sign of a cross. As a 3D model it was a better choice for the end. I didnt BUY one...

Jim Simon Dec 7, 2012 11:02 AM (in response to lasvideo)I'm like a conquering tyrant. I want all mention of Apple stricken from the record of this universe. When the interdimensional visitor finally arrive in 2112, I want then to know only of Windows, Linux, and whatever new comes along in the meantime.
But that's a pretty lofty goal. I'd actually settle for Mac penetration in this industry to be on par with Mac penetration in the rest of the world, about 7 or 8%. That'd give me a much better chance of advancing my career without having to use that backwards and frustrating OS.

lasvideo Dec 7, 2012 10:58 AM (in response to Jim Simon)Yeah, well good luck with that .
To be honest, even though I like my Z820, I still prefer OSX to Windows. Its faster when opening programs, more cohesive with software and more user friendly

8. Re: Old Time Rock and Roll AND Element 3D
lasvideo Dec 7, 2012 11:12 AM (in response to Jim Simon)I use both (Mac Pro for email/web and Z820 for editing) on a daily basis still so I think its time for "lets agree to disagree".

Steven L. Gotz Dec 11, 2012 7:15 PM (in response to lasvideo)Pretty cool. I especially like the way the reflection changes in the saxaphones. I have some minor nitpics, but it certainly did the job of showing what can be acheived with a little effort and a lot of imagination.

10. Re: Old Time Rock and Roll AND Element 3D
lasvideo Dec 13, 2012 9:19 AM (in response to Steven L. Gotz)Thanks Stephen. It was merely an exercise to allow me to get familiar with using Element. But even when Im exploring new software I like to treat it like a real project like have design concepts & a goal.

Felix CL Dec 19, 2012 4:37 PM (in response to lasvideo)pretty cool stuff!
i also love the reflections on the saxes.
and the humorous use of the puppet tool on mr. travolta made me laugh loud (i rarely do this, tbh.)
BUT:
my ONLY scathing criticism is the first vinyl.
it should look like this:
(oh and that i don't find serifs very r'n'r)
otherwise i foud it very entertaining and well done
was thinking about getting element aswell but at the moment i have not enough use for it so that it pays for itself...
(unlike particular, primatte keyer...)thinking of getting ft-toolbar though...

lasvideo Dec 19, 2012 4:48 PM (in response to Felix CL)Wow, that one bodacious Zepplin record!!!
Im glad you enjoyed the piece. It was a great way to get familiar with Element which I see as a real revolutionary product for AE users like us.
I really like some of the stuff that aescripts has to offer as well. Like Mocha Import Plus, Elementary, True Comp Duplicator, and Orient World to name a few.

Felix CL Dec 19, 2012 4:56 PM (in response to lasvideo)True Comp Duplicator
W.O.W.
now thank you for that!
Just what i just wished, i had.
instead of duplicating every single precomp or importing a project to another one to get this done quickly.
(am working on a set of TVCs and it goes out to various formats and stations, so it's been a pain with a LOT of precomposed text in 3 diferent languages 4:3 [yeah, some still want that ] and 16:9)making me duplicate all precomps for those (at least all aspect versions, because for the language precomps, i keep them all in the main comp, grouped by language and export with the groups switched on- or off)
but i never stumbled upon this script.
thanx tom!

Bill Hunt Dec 22, 2012 1:37 PM (in response to lasvideo)Not sure how I missed this post for so very long - my bad!
Loved it!
How could I not? Any video that includes the album art for Weasels Ripped My Flesh, has got to be good, right? Now, I did not see Captain Beefheart's Trout Mask Replica, but might have missed it.
Best "music video," that I have seen in a very, very long time. Right up there with Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse of the Heart (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpC81-SJcvo) and The Hooters' All You Zombies (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LE0KpcP05I).
Thank you for sharing your work!

lasvideo Dec 22, 2012 1:44 PM (in response to Bill Hunt)Thank you Bill. Im glad you liked it.
It really was just a way for me to explore using E3D. But after 30 years I tend to treat everything I do as a real project.
It was a lot of fun seeing how E3D really opens the door to new world of creativity in After Effects
