Here are the updates on the adobe pages:
you'll have to scroll down to Version CS
Kelly, thank you for the information, but the only updates listed for the original CS (Version 8) are Raw files. I know that there were program updates but I guess Adobe gave up maintaining them long ago. I was just hoping that just maybe, someone still had them on a backup file from long ago. Thanks anyway.
As far as i remember photoshop cs never got any program updates.
Some of the other applications with the cs suite did.
Which updates are you referring to?
If i remember right i believe the creative suite cs got updated and if you bought that, then photoshop cs may have said version 8.01, but
i don't think that photoshop cs version was any different from version 8.

Maybe I don't remember correctly but I was thinking that there were updates to several of the programs in CS. I remember that when I used it before, there was an icon, paint bucket I believe, that I could use to change the color of a large area in a photo. I used it many times to put a black background in some of my photos of orchids. I don't find a way to do that since I have reloaded the program. I'll just have to do some experimenting and maybe I used another feature. If there were no program updates, that would be a first for a set of programs as large as CS. ALL software is buggy. Thanks anyway.
There are updates to some of the other cs programs:
(you might have to look for each individual program)
cs creative suite updates:
The Paint Bucket Tool is grouped with the Gradient Tool in the toolbox, press G on the keyboard and Shift+G to cycle between the gradient tool and paint bucket tool.
It depends on which operating system your installing cs on, as it may not function correctly in newer operating systems.
(operating systems that came out after cs was released)
Although on windows, photoshop cs seems to work well from win 2000 to windows 8
Noel, Thank you very much. As I said, I haven't used Photoshop in a few years and I was never an expert in all it's functions. I have forgotten quite a bit. I have to admit that I just reached 80 a couple of months ago and at my age, the mind is not as agile as it used to be. I am on the computer quite a bit to try and prevent brain atrophy but it still sets in. Thanks again.
Kelly, Thanks for your help. I seldom used anything in the Suite other than Photoshop, so I will assume that it has not been changed. You and Noel Carboni have helped me and I have reached the point that I can function fairly well with what I need to do. I just have to replace the Canon 7D that I got rid of last year and I will be back in business. Again, thanks and it looks as if my problems have been resollvled.
