Brushes in PSE8 not working properly

Hello!

This is very frustrating and I don't know how to fix it. Sometimes when I pull up PSE 8, my brushes are perfect and I can start working normally, but sometimes my default brushes are messed up. Normally towards the top of the list, the brushes look like this ~ with the pointed ends. This is what I want. Right now I keep having a thick rounded brush and I really need help fixing that. This is my only source of income, someone please help me! I've already tried the whole Edit>Preferences>Display and Cursors thing and that didn't work

Try clicking the tiny triangle to the left of the brush thumbnail and choose Reset Tool from the popout menu.

Sometimes this do happen.
Try this:

Quit Editor
Launch Welcome screen
Press and hold Ctrl + Alt + Del and Click on Editor
Hold the keys till you get a pop dialog asking you to delete the preferences
Release the keys and Click Yes
Now go to Brushes.

Hope you find those pointed ones.
