Flash Player won't install

Install stops at 50%.

WinXP machine previously had IE but changed to Opera, removed Flash Player, rebooted, downloaded current Flash Player but install failed at 50%. Stopped anti-virus and tried again, but install still failed. Ideas very welcome!
