Hey all, quick question.
I have .MTS AVCHD files that I need to key in After Effects with keylight. On first attempts I get some weird pixelation and distortion issues. The lighting is extremely good, so i'm wondering if converting them to prores will be of any help for the keying process?
Nope, you can't gain any quality improvement out of transcoding. Moreover, you'll definitely lose some data in superwhites (overbrights) areas, if you have ones, 'cos they will be clipped. The advantage of transcoding can be in saving on render time for both RAM preview and final output.
Okay thanks for the input. Looks like I probably need to learn the ins and out of keylight a bit better.
