Hi there just wanted to make sure I am not doing anything wrong with my new build (about to buy next week) :
i7 3930k hex core
asus p9x79 pro
nzxt phantom 820 case (because I like the design )
Asus GeForce GTX 670 DirectCU II
OCZ ZX SERIES 1250w PSU
Patriot Viper "Black Mamba" Generation 3 32GB (4x8GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Quad Channel Kit (PV332G160C9QK) x2 or 1866 or 2133mhz possibly ripjawz (not much choice here in uk have to go with what's there on the day) :S
2x samsung 840 pro's (OS and cache disks) on the sata 3 intel connections
4x Seagate Constellation ES ST1000NM0011 Internal Hard Drive - 1 TB also on the intel in raid 10 but the sata 2 connections until later on when I get a controller (hopefully this will be ok for 1080p work for now)
Blu ray burner - not chosen yet.
Windows 8 64 bit pro
One thing I noticed about the vipers was they look like they are the same RAM just with different ratings do you think this is correct? See here: http://www.patriotmemory.com/product/specs/PV332G213C1QK.pdf it says: the base timings and frequency are exactly the 1600mhz 9-9-9-24 of the 1600mhz model - leading me to think they are the same?
Overall it looks nice, though the RAID 10 might be better thought out.
C: SSD - Windows and Programs
D: 1TB - Project files/Scratch./Cache
E: SSD - AE Global Cache
F: 1TB x 2 - Media (RAID 1)
G: 1TB - Exports
Yer I guess I forgot to say that is my new set up ...u have 2 external disks from my old one for archiving/backup. I also am a motion gfx designer and work a little different to the average person here I guess...but I here you I will be more like this at some point. More concerned about the ram for now...thanks...
