@389280 – nearly every object. Yes.
But there are rare cases where the ID changes during processing:
one example would be a placed AI files where the ID of the graphic changes every time you set its graphicLayers currentVisibility property to a different value.
Then the other case where the ID of a "Cell" object is only unique inside the table it is sitting in and not document wide.
Same goes for "State" objects in MSOs.
Check the documentation and do experimenting:

Can you add custom fields to the object?
Like adding my own ID to it and that field be persistent?
some objects have a "label" property.
@389280 – use the "insertLabel(keystring, valuestring)", "extractLabel(keystring)" methods for that…
"Downside" of that:
If you duplicate an object the key-value pairs will be duplicated, too.
So you have to do some bookkeeping on that…
